Biography

Aisha Tyler is an American actress and stand up comedian. She was born on September 18th 1970 in San Francisco, California where she attended the School of the Arts High School and later Dartmouth College.

Aisha has a degree in government and a minor in environmental policy and was the founder of ‘The Dartmouth Rockapellas’ an all girls group who aimed to spread social awareness through their songs.
She spent some time working in advertising before deciding to move to LA in 1996 to follow her dream of working in the comedy scene.

Her first jobs came in 2001 when she appeared on the shows ‘Talk Soup’ and ‘The Fifth Wheel’. After this she took on various different roles in a few independent projects including Moose Mating, for which she received an NAACP Image Award.
She once again showed her talents later that year by writing, directing and starring in her own independent movie called ‘The Whipper’.

One of Aisha’s big breaks came when she won a reoccurring role in the hit TV sitcom ‘Friends’, she stayed in the show for its final two seasons and became a hit with fans during this time. She later went on to have roles in other hit TV shows such as CSI in which she played ‘Mia Dickerson’ a DNA lab assistant who took the place of Greg Sanders. She has also appeared in ‘24’ alongside Kiefer Sutherland.

Tyler has also had chance to maximise her writing skills and has written articles for several big name magazines including ‘Jane’ and ‘Glamour’. She later went on to release her first book ‘Swerve: A Guide to the Sweet Life for Postmodern Girls’ in 2004.

She has appeared in ‘The Santa Claus 2’ and ‘The Santa Clause 3’ as ‘Mother Nature’ and in her spare time Aisha plays in the ‘World Poker Tour’ and spends time with her husband Jeff Tietjens who she married in 1992.
